Quantum Motion, a London company touting silicon spin-based quantum computing and quantum’s “transistor moment,” announced the second close of its Series C funding round, which was first announced back in May at $160 million USD.

New financial details were not announced, but new information on the round, which was led by DCVC and Kembara, adds investments from Imec.ventures, Lansdowne Partners, Sony Innovation Fund, S3 Ventures, and Inkef. Among those parties, the Sony fund participated in Quantum Motion funding back in 2023.

Quantum Motion was one of 11 companies chosen for Stage B of the US Defense Advanced Research Project Agency’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative in November 2025. The new funding will drive custom silicon co-development, leverage global semiconductor manufacturing pipelines and build upon key milestones including international expansion, including the opening a US lab in Maryland and the firm’s QBI efforts.

The company has claimed that using a transistor-based approach and leveraging standard silicon CMOS fabrication technology allows it to drastically reduce the typical cost, space, and power consumption requirements of quantum computers, making them more viable for data center deployment. 

“Silicon technology transformed classical computing and it remains the only platform capable of delivering the density and scale required for practical quantum utility,” said James Palles-Dimmock, CEO of Quantum Motion. “This commitment from major strategic and financial investors validates our engineering-first strategy and will accelerate our progress towards a utility scale quantum computer. By tapping into existing global semiconductor supply chains, we are bypassing the cost bottlenecks of bespoke manufacturing and bringing commercially viable quantum systems to market faster.”

Quantinuum has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Aramco, the Saudi Arabian oil, energy, and chemical giant.

From the press release: “Under the MOU, the companies intend to undertake preliminary technical onboarding and engage in knowledge exchange activities. They will also identify Aramco’s challenges that may be suitable for quantum computing research with an emphasis on solving complex problems in energy and digital transformation. The collaboration aims to assess how future generations of quantum systems may address relevant scientific and industrial challenges, and to benchmark different quantum computing modalities.”

I know non-binding MOUs are pretty standard, though the phrasing has always struck me as extremely tentative and suggesting the parties involved were urgent to agree that they wanted to be mentioned in the same sentence. Having said that, this is an interesting development, as Aramco appears to be exploring multiple quantum computing modalities. It has long been associated with French neutral-atom firm Pasqal, and is now taking a closer look at Quantinuum’s trapped-ion approach.

Also, while Pasqal arguably has been doing more in the Middle East than any other quantum company, Quantinuum could make its own strong argument, with a joint venture in Qatar formed last year and now the new MOU with Aramco.

QuSecure said it demonstrated “operational readiness at Project Convergence Capstone 6 (PCC6), the capstone event for Army Transformation and Training Command (T2COM).” What all that means QuSecure, which has been working with the US Army and other government and military outfits for several years, used its QuProtect R3 post-quantum cryptography (PQC) platform to successfully demonstrate quantum-resistant communications, cryptographic agility, and cryptographic discovery and inventory for Army tactical mission systems. This is an important step, as US government organizations are under the gun to meet earlier PQC adoption deadlines outlined in a recent Trump administration Executive Order.
