Science Applications International Corp. a big-time defense and military contractor, announced it has completed the acquisition of Information Security Corporation (ISC), a deal which enhances SAIC’s quantum-safe security capabilities.

With the acquisition, SAIC gains an ISC product suite that includes CertAgent, which supports post-quantum cryptography capabilities, and has been on the National Security Agency’s Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Components List for more than a decade, according to a news release.

“This strategic tuck-in acquisition reflects our disciplined approach to investing in technology and capabilities that address the nation’s most critical challenges,” said Jim Reagan, Chief Executive Officer of SAIC. “Integrating ISC’s mission-proven cryptographic technologies with SAIC’s pedigree of delivering and operating robust zero-trust architectures, provides our intelligence and defense customers with the security and scalability to protect against rapidly evolving threats.”

Financial terms were not disclosed.

This acquisition is the latest evidence of ramp-up in M&A activity around the quantum-safe security market. Just last week, Project Eleven announced its acquisition of Riva Labs. The deal centered around applying post-quantum security to blockchain and related technologies. Also last week, Quantum eMotion announced plans to acquire Plurilock, a deal which followed the acquisition of SKV Technology earlier in the year. And, back in August, Datavault AI, which has a Quantum Private Network edge infrastructure solution, acquired Cybercatch Holdings for $94.5 million.

All of these deals and a few others came after IonQ last year acquired quantum security specialist ID Quantique.

It should come as no surprise that a variety of companies are arming themselves with robust quantum-safe security portfolios, as the Trump administration’s June Executive Order laid out a newly aggressive timeline for adoption of quantum-safe security. Recent headlines about AI hacks, though not specifically related to post-quantum capabilities, also could be inspiring governments and corporate enterprises in many industries to invest in new levels of protection.
