There have been a number of executive hiring announcements and board appointments around the quantum sector this month. I mentioned a couple yesterday–IonQ’s new CIO and Xanadu’s new CFO and CLO–but here are few more worth noting:

  • Qunnect, a quantum networking company, named Scott Faris to its board of directors. The name should be very familiar, as Faris led Infleqtion as CEO for about two-and-a-half years, specifically during the time that it changed its name from ColdQuanta. He left Infleqtion in early 2024 to become CEO of Eqlipse Quantum, a policy and strategy advisory firm. Also, Faris, a former Luminar Technologies executive, briefly joined Luminar Semiconductor, Inc., last year in a turnaround mission that resulted in the sale of LSI to Quantum Computing, Inc.
  • SuperQ hired Brian Beveridge, a former partner at Canadian accounting and consulting giant MNP, as its Director of Post-Quantum Cybersecurity and Partnerships. Beveridge was co-founder of digital identity and fraud prevention firm Identityworks.ai, and will now focus on the commercialization of SuperQ’s end-to=end security stack with Managed Security Service Providers. “Brian is a transformative addition to our executive team. His deep roots in enterprise consulting and his sophisticated understanding of the cybersecurity ecosystem are exactly what SuperQ needs as we productize quantum readiness,” said Dr. Muhammad Khan, CEO and Board Chair of SuperQ. “As we scale, our strategy is to empower the world’s leading consultants to deliver our technology, not to compete with them. Brian’s role is to ensure our partners have the ‘Super’ advantage—providing them with the underlying infrastructure they need to solve complex optimization and cybersecurity challenges for their clients.”
  • Infleqtion earlier this month appointed Colin Sullivan MBE, former Royal Air Force Deputy Force Commander to the post of Managing Director UK at Infleqtion. The company has had some success in the UK, as it was behind the first quantum computer installed at the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre back in mid-2024. Sullivan also brings a lot of experience in defense and security, sectors in which the opportunities for quantum technology companies have been ripening quickly over the last year.
